Case Study 2013-2015. Condition monitoring of subsea processing equipment

Client

Statoil

Challenge

To develop and supply an optical condition monitoring system based on Bragg fiber grating technology for subsea processing equipment.

Resolution

Smart Fibres developed and supplied an optical fibre condition monitoring system which used dynamic, multi-parameter measurements to assess the health and performance of the equipment during qualification at Statoil’s test facilities.
The supplied system was certified by ATEX as inherently safe in Hazardous Zones 0, 1 or 2 with gas groups IIA, IIB or IIC, a pre-requisite for use in Statoil’s application.

The project was delivered in the first half of 2013 to align with Statoil’s planned qualification schedule.

Test results are currently withheld due to client confidentiality agreements.
